…is there anyone who cares,
About India today?
Is there anyone who wants,
Faced by India today?
Does any responsible person know the woes India faces today?
Does anyone acknowledge in anyway,
That perhaps they are the woes,
Faced by India today…?
A cry within that does say,
Oh, look where India has reached today…
Why blame India,
When we are all a part of her,
When each one is responsible,
For what happens to her…?
So much this sacred soil does ceaselessly offer,
Alas! It’s all taken away by those,
Interested in filling only their own coffer,
This vast rich land,
There is hardly anything that she does lack,
Only when it comes to honesty,
Integrity and loyalty,
That prevailed in eras gone by,
Then, it’s like looking for needles in a hay stack,
Right and ability,
Capability and authority,
Is overcome with corruption and greed,
Painting a sorry picture,
With many a shameful deed…
Is there anyone whom, with her beliefs she can trust?
Is there anyone who can be truly just?
Who can stop chaos, riots and mayhem,
And not start them?
Who can control bribery and corruption and not take part in them?
Who can restore the glory that truly belongs to India?
Who can help assail the common man’s fear?
Is there anyone who notices her pitiable, sorrowful state?
Who can boost up her sagging faith?
Who can help heal the wounds of India today?
Who can console her as her heart bleeds today?
This Motherland that is so great in every way,
Is losing so much with each passing day,
With hoarding, grabbing and take, take, take,
In her name,
Millions for themselves,
Some of her children,
Selfishly continue to make,
So many a sting, so many a scam,
Lifestyles, talks, speeches, bravado,
A total sham…
When such traits or such children do say goodbye,
The Mother will sigh,
She will be happy,
Mother India will not cry,
Shameful acts, disgust and scorn,
For so long so much she has stoically borne…
Come, let’s play fair,
For the progress of our Motherland,
Let’s do our share,
Are we not even a wee bit contrite?
Let’s devote to her our time, love and light,
Let’s make way for the righteous and what’s right,
Let’s unite what vested interests have tried to divide,
Let the Mother know her children are there by her side,
Let the Mother hold her head up with pride,
To anyone who is listening and who does care,
I say – Dare,
Dare to take up for her,
Give the Mother your best,
Show her you care,
This very moment as she needs you,
Will you dare,
To be there…?
